Getting work and being included

My name is Patrick.

I have been working at the Leisure Pool in Dunbar for about 8 or 9 years now. I work 4 days a week and I go to college to do a cookery course the other day. My job is shift work so it is not always the same hours each day.

For 2 days a week my job is to clean the pool surround, windows, lockers and changing rooms. The other two days I work in the pool canteen cleaning tables and helping out in the café.

There are quite a few things I enjoy about my job. I like my uniform. I like the other staff at the pool and I get on well with my boss. Because I have been there for a few years I know that I am good at my job and that makes me feel good. I get my lunch free and I get to have a swim and a sauna free also because I am a member of staff.

It is good to get paid for the work I do and my wages go straight into my bank. I like working because it helps me feel in control of my life and shows that I can look after myself.
