I'm Jen.
I used to work in a nursing home in Kent, where I used to live. The atmosphere was good. It was a nice place to be. I liked working with the old people. You get attached to people when you look after them every day.
One of the good things was that when you started you had a 'buddy' to show you what to do. But all the women who worked there were nice. I just asked for help if I wasn't sure about anything. People showed me how to do new things, like do proper hospital corners for the bed sheets. They didn't get frustrated if I asked for help. They just showed me. And after a while I knew what to do.
How I got the job was that my Dad worked there. When I was leaving school he asked if I could get a job there. I went for a weekend to try it out, and they kept me on for 3 years.
Then I moved to live in Hawick which is in the Scottish Borders. I'd like to get a job where I live now like the one at the nursing home.
