Getting work and being included

Outside the Box has been hearing the experiences of people who want to get into work. This includes people who are affected by disability in various ways - people who have learning difficulties, people who have mental health problems, people who have other disabilities and people who are carers.

We have been working with partners in Borders and other parts of Scotland on an employment project. The project is funded by Communities Scotland through the Futurebuilders programme.

The people who took part in the project thought it would be a good idea to publish the stories of people who have disabilities and who are working. You can read the stories here, or download the PDF.

We hope that people will realise that lots of people can work if they get the opportunities and encouragement.

What's next?

There is more to come! In the next few months this website is going to have lots of information for people about employment. It will show people who work in employment projects and other services what they can do to help more people get into the jobs they want.

You can read their stories about getting work and being included here
