Checking it out
Checking out with mental health service users in Argyll and Bute.
About this project
The Argyll & Bute Council and NHS Highland are beginning to look for more ways to help people with mental health problems to be included in their community and have a good life.
This project covered two of the groups using the Argyll & Bute Council premises at Smiddy House in Lochgilphead, and people using similar services in Oban.
The Argyll & Bute Council and NHS Highland would like to know if there are better ways to meet the needs of those people who use these services.
The Argyll & Bute Council and NHS Highland asked Outside the Box if they could help them to find out what things people like and don’t like about their centres and also what other things folk would like to do.
The Argyll & Bute Council and NHS Highland want to improve services for people who use mental health services to offer them more choices, get, and make sure people have, more say about the services they get and give the support that is right for each person, and achieve more involvement in people’s local communities.
This project was firmly rooted in the With Inclusion in Mind report. With Inclusion in Mind is the guidance issued by the Scottish Government to support the implementation of Sections 25-31 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act, 2003.
