Useful Resources About Participation

About this project

Outside the Box has gathered together some publications from the Partners in change programme. They were written to help people who use services have more influence in what happens, and to make it easier for staff who work in services feel confident around involving people.

The material was initially published by the Scottish Executive Health Department and Scottish Human Service Trust.

The National Standards for Community Engagement have been developed with the involvement of over 500 people from communities and agencies throughout Scotland. They are a practical tool to help improve the experience of all participants involved in community engagement to achieve the highest quality of process and results.

We have been asked by the Scottish Health Council to update the contents of Building Strong Foundations.

Many thanks to everyone who has sent us details of participation in their local area.

We would very much like to get more examples. Please get in touch if you have examples of participation by

  • people who use services
  • carers, families and friends
  • members of the public.
