Glasgow Women's Mental Health Forum
About this project
Women in Glasgow who have lived with mental health problems came together to look at the issues which affect the mental health and well being of women and the role of the Women's forum.
The Women's Forum is part of the Mental Health Network in Glasgow and brings together women from all over the city. It was launched in 2002. By mid-late 2005 the number of women attending the Forum on a regular basis had fallen. They asked Outside the Box to carry out capacity building training with the members.
The training explored issues that affected women's mental health and what the group could do to help or improve the role and functioning of the Women's Forum. Two sessions focussed on recovery: what this meant to the group and what role the women's forum could have in recovery. The group also looked at how the Forum could support the existing members and other women in Glasgow who have mental health needs.
